Cooper’s Series “Squanto”

squanto_blogPlymouth, MA – Mayflower Brewing Company, America’s Hometown brewery, is pleased to announce the release of a new beer called “Squanto” starting next week. This saison is an unfiltered Belgian farmhouse ale and is the third of the brewery’s new line of limited-edition, Cooper’s Series beers that are available in kegs and 4-packs.

“We were very pleased with the success of our first two Cooper’s Series beers and are excited to release Squanto”. says Drew Brosseau, founder and President. “Celebrating the history that inspires our brand, this beer pays tribute to Squanto (Tisquantum), a Patuxet who befriended the Pilgrims and helped them recover from a tough first winter by teaching them native methods of cultivation.”

The company has brewed just 100 barrels of Squanto, which will yield roughly 800 cases and 100 kegs. The beer will be available to customers starting next week, with a multi-week rollout planned throughout New England.

“Squanto is our take on the traditional farmhouse style ale, Saison,” says Ryan Gwozdz, Head Brewer. “Pilsner and wheat malts give this beer a golden straw color, with a hazy appearance from yeast still in suspension. The aroma includes some spiciness from a blend of two yeasts and earthiness from Styrian Golding hops. The taste mimics the aroma, with a dry, refreshing finish, perfect for sipping on all spring and into summer.”

The company plans to release additional Cooper’s Series beers in coming months.
